home is where the heart is
When my last home sparked a bidding war on the first day of viewings, I took it as a sign to turn home staging into my next career. I'd created somewhere three sets of buyers wanted so much they all offered the asking price.
It was very different to the stress of my previous move, when my flat sat on the market for months. I can now see there were simple things I could have done – if only I’d known how – to improve the presentation and have a much smoother sale. It's this experience that drives me to ensure your home looks the best it can, whatever your budget; some of my suggestions won't cost a penny.
Calm, cosy spaces are irresistible to buyers and so much more relaxing to live in. I get a real buzz hearing that someone I’ve helped has accepted an offer, and seeing the weight lift from a client’s shoulders as we tackle their clutter.
After that bidding war, I studied interior design and home staging around my day job as a magazine journalist. Jane Lee Interiors launched in 2019.
I write regularly about home staging, interior styling and living with less for lifestyle publications and websites, and have featured in Livingetc (online), Sussex Prestige and 365 Magazine. Home is a cottage in a Sussex village, near Brighton.
Shortlisted in the UK Home Staging Awards in October 2021, I hold a Houzz Best of Service Award 2021 and 2022, and am a member of the Home Staging Association and the Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers.
